ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • Created and managed 20+ programs covering real estate investment, development, lending, leasing, and loan servicing â€‹- on a nationwide basis and through every economic cycle​​​

  • Examples:

    • after decades of representing CMBS originators and loan servicers, I jumped the CMBS fence to represent "carveout" liability guarantors in CMBS loan modifications, deed-in-lieu transactions, and receivership and foreclosure actions

      • 2018-2020: hotel/motels borrowers (including a hotel REIT)​

      • 2023- currently: office building borrowers, and a few hotel/motel 

    • single tenant-NNN lease transactions (representing the tenant; representing the lender)

    • CRE lending on behalf of REITs

    • mortgage lending to tenant-in-common structures and to Sharia law structures

    • ​mortgage lending  transactions involving sale/leaseback structures​ and NNN lease transactions

    • automated reporting of foreclosure status in 50 states for a multi-family lender (tracking 3,500+ foreclosures [annually] across the U.S.) (The tool answered these simple and expensive questions: "when will we foreclose? how  much is the loss?)

    • ​engaged by a bank to create a program to oversee and obtain "more value" from the bank's outside legal counsel

    • airplane hanger leases; data center leases

    • introducing data privacy standards and provisions into servicing agreements, property management agreements, and more​

  • ​Trained AI to collect information (from source materials) for use in creating the "legal" set of home mortgage loan documents; and showcased the use of AI in other CRE lending and servicing use cases

  • Created databases focused on legal tasks and content for multiple use cases, which expanded the scope of my legal services to include valuable legal data.
